Privacy Policy for BudStudy

Effective date: September 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the BudStudy mobile application ("BudStudy," "the app," "we," "us," or "our") handles information. BudStudy is designed as a local-first student productivity app. Core academic data stays on your device unless you explicitly export it.

1. Summary

2. Information You Create in BudStudy

Depending on how you use the app, you may create academic and planning information such as:

This information is stored in local application storage on your device. It is not uploaded to a BudStudy or BudBud developer server.

3. No Account or Cloud Sync

BudStudy does not require a user account and does not provide automatic account-based cloud synchronization for your academic data. We do not ask you to provide an email address, phone number, or student number in order to use the core planner.

4. Notifications and Today Widget

If you enable notifications or add the BudStudy Today Widget, limited academic information may be shown by your operating system outside the main app interface. Depending on your data and settings, this may include items such as course names, assignment or exam information, reminder text, times, or summary status.

This information is used only to provide the notification or widget feature on your device. You should consider your device lock-screen, notification-preview, and home-screen privacy settings if other people can access or view your device.

5. Backup and Export

BudStudy can allow you to manually export a backup of your app data. Export is started by you, and the destination is selected through the operating system's file or sharing interface.

A backup may contain academic and personal planning data. The V1 backup format is not required to be password-protected or encrypted. You are responsible for storing exported backup files securely and for choosing where you send or save them.

If you store or share a backup through a third-party service such as a cloud drive, email provider, or file-sharing service, that provider's own privacy policy and security practices apply to the copy you place there. BudStudy does not operate those services as its backend.

6. How We Use Information

Core academic information is processed locally to provide BudStudy features such as Today, planning, assignments, exams, study tools, attendance, grades, reminders, and widgets.

We do not use course names, exam dates, grades, attendance, study time, assignment titles, task content, or assistant results as custom advertising targeting metadata.

7. Advertising and Third-Party Services

BudStudy is free to use and supported by advertising. The app uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (Google AdMob) to display ads, including app open, interstitial and native ads, and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and manage advertising consent where required.

When ads are requested or shown, Google may collect and process information from your device, such as:

This information is used by Google to deliver ads, measure ad performance, limit how often ads are shown, and prevent fraud. Where you allow it, it may also be used to show personalized ads.

On iOS, BudStudy asks for your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before the advertising identifier can be used for tracking. If you decline, ads will not be personalized using that identifier. You can change this choice at any time in your device's Settings. In regions where consent is required, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, you can give or withdraw consent through the consent form and change your choice later from the Privacy section of the app.

BudStudy does not send course names, exam dates, grades, attendance, study time, assignment titles, task content, or assistant results to Google or any other ad provider. The application build described by this policy does not use a separate analytics SDK.

Google's processing of this information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can learn more about how Google uses information from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. If BudStudy's third-party services or data flows materially change, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

8. Data Storage and Retention

Your in-app academic content remains in local application storage until you edit or delete the relevant records, clear application data through supported app or operating-system controls, or uninstall the app, subject to normal operating-system backup and storage behavior.

Exported backup files are separate copies. Removing data from BudStudy does not automatically delete backup files that you previously saved or shared outside the app.

Information collected by Google for advertising is retained according to Google's own policies.

9. Deleting Your Data

BudStudy stores your data only on your device, so you can delete all of it yourself at any time without contacting us and without creating an account.

Delete all data inside the app

This permanently deletes every record you created in BudStudy, including semesters and courses, class timetable entries, assignments and their subtasks, exams, tasks and reminders, study goals and study sessions, attendance records, grades, and your app preferences. The deletion is immediate and applies to the data stored on that device. Because this data is never uploaded to a BudStudy server, no additional copy is retained by us after deletion.

Delete everything by uninstalling

Uninstalling BudStudy removes the app's local storage from your device, which deletes all of the data listed above.

Backup files you exported

Backup files that you exported yourself are separate copies stored wherever you chose to save or share them. Deleting your data in the app or uninstalling the app does not remove those files. You can delete them through your device's file manager or through the third-party service where you stored them.

Advertising data

Data collected by Google for advertising, as described in Section 7, is held by Google and is not stored by BudStudy. You can reset or limit the advertising identifier associated with your device through your device settings, and you can review or change your advertising consent from the Privacy section of the app where that option applies.

If you have a question about deleting your data, contact us at support@budbudapp.com.

10. Data Security

BudStudy is designed to reduce unnecessary data exposure by keeping core academic data local and avoiding a developer-operated academic-data backend. However, no device, storage system, or sharing method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for protecting access to your device and for securely storing any backup files that you export.

11. Your Choices

12. Children's Privacy

BudStudy is a student productivity application and may be used by students of different ages. BudStudy does not require a developer-hosted account and does not intentionally collect core academic planner data on developer-operated servers.

BudStudy displays ads provided by Google AdMob. Parents or guardians of younger users should review device permissions, ad tracking settings, notification visibility, widget visibility, and any backup-sharing destinations used on the device.

13. International Data Transfers

BudStudy does not transfer your core academic planner database to a BudStudy developer server. Information processed by Google for advertising may be processed in other countries according to Google's terms and privacy policy. If you choose to export or share a backup through a third-party provider, that provider may process the exported copy in other countries according to its own terms and privacy policy.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as BudStudy changes. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes to data handling or third-party processing will be reflected in the policy applicable to the corresponding app version.

15. Contact Us
